| Title | The Processing Mechanism of Conflict Monitoring in Reasoning and Decision-making |
| Abstract | The earliest research on conflict monitoring began in 1995 was expanded around the neurophysiologic observations about anterior cingulated cortex of the brain (ACC). Behavioral experiment paradigm for the study of conflict monitoring was required to overcome the advantages of the task response. However, on the assumption of conflict monitoring theory that detect conflict and response inhibition are functionally separate, traditional experiment is difficult to separate the two phases. Recently, researchers of dual system theory that proposed an behavior experimental paradigm can separate the conflict detection and inhibit reaction. This paradigm will solve the controversial about the processing relationship between two systems in dual system, and conflict monitoring research in high-level processing of behavioral experiments. Researchers hypothesized that conflict monitor is a fast, effortless, shallow information processing and formation a kind of‘rational intuition’contrast with the conclusions of heuristic, then to translate the conflict information to the prefrontal cortex(PFC) and other regions for responsible controlling, complete information processing while response inhibition.Based on neural and behavioral experimental of conflict monitoring, this study use the paradigm and multiple conflict questionnaire to discuss the characteristics and methods of conflict monitoring, the inhibition reminded in conflict monitoring, and conflict resolution in multiple conflicts. Conclusions follows:(1)Conflict monitoring processing is fast, parallel, effortless, but need to realize the conflict information in pre-encoded stage, and depends on target exit.(2)One can always detect the conflict and to suppress false belief, but the function of inhibited remained will be interference by dual task.(3)processing of logical information may exist at least two stages, But the time saving that pre-processing lead to post-processing is not significant.(4)The results of conflict monitoring and response accuracy under the multiple-conflicts have no significant difference with single-conflict conditions. That means people are able to correctly detect and handle different types of conflicts simultaneously. |
